Some words are heavier than others

Cause bands started when a customer asked for one word she couldn't say out loud yet. Pick a cause and I'll string it — $4 from every cause band goes to a charity in that field, and I'll tell you which one on your card.

Want a word that isn't on the list? Type anything you like in the Bead Studio. Nothing is too blunt — I've strung a few that made me laugh out loud.

How it works

From your word to your wrist

1

Pick your word

Up to 14 letters per strand. Names, dates, nicknames, inside jokes, causes — spaces and hearts are free.

2

Choose your beads

Six colourways, three letter styles, and your choice of stretch elastic, memory-wire bangle, or adjustable cord.

3

I string it by hand

Every strand is knotted twice and sealed. Made in 3–5 days at my bench in Amesbury, never batched offshore.

4

It arrives wrapped

Tissue, a ribbon, a handwritten card, and a spare bead in case you ever need a repair. Gift note on request.

Meet the maker

Hi, I'm Audrey.

I'm a mother of four and a grandmother of six, which is exactly ten reasons to run out of wrist space.

It began as a hobby — bracelets for family and close friends. I wanted a way to wear and display all of my loved ones at once, and letter beads turned out to be the answer. That's how the Show It With Words bracelet line started, and it hasn't stopped since.

This group holds my heart and puts sunshine into everyday.

Our story

Eleven years, ninety-one orders, and a bead tray that has never once been fully organised.

Show it with words — love, thoughts and words.

It began with a hobby of making bracelets for family and close friends. Being a mother to four and a grandmother to six, I wanted to find a way to wear and display all of my loved ones. That started my Show It With Words bracelet line.

Some people enjoy their children's names on their arm, or their grandchildren. Some wear a cause, or a thought. I can customise it so your bracelet is perfect for you — that's the whole point of the thing.

I love making my custom pieces for those to enjoy for themselves or to give as gifts.

Along the way the bench picked up a few other habits. Fabric-wrapped window sticks, because my own windows wouldn't stay open. Pretty gloves, because a customer with neuropathy asked whether something warm could also be lovely. Canvas totes, which began as a favour for the farm stand down the road and did not stop. Keyrings, because people kept asking for the bracelet without the wrist. And most recently a small 3D printer in the corner, mostly operated by a grandchild who is better at it than I am.

Where things actually come from

A

Beads

Alphabet beads, freshwater pearls, seed beads and gold-fill spacers. Some come from Joan's Fabric over in Seabrook, New Hampshire — a fifteen-minute drive and a two-hour visit, every time.

B

Hands

Mine. Every strand is measured, strung, double-knotted and sealed at the same table where I've been doing it since 2014.

C

Packing

Tissue, ribbon, a handwritten card and a spare bead taped inside the lid. Customers keep telling me the wrapping is half of it.

D

Post

Out the door in 3–5 days, USPS from the Market Street post office. Tracking on everything, always.
